Cape Cod Wildlife Series: Marine Life Stranding with New England Coastal Wildlife Alliance
Join Carol "Krill" Carson of New England Coastal Wildlife Alliance (NECWA) for an in-depth look into what goes into reporting, rescuing, and caring for stranded marine life. Often, the first person to come upon a stranded animal is someone who is walking on the beach for enjoyment or exercise. Actions taken by this person provide the first link in a chain of important responses that involve both government and non-government organizations. Learn how to best support the rescue efforts of NECWA and what happens once that initial action takes place.
Krill Carson is a marine biologist who has worked in New England since 1980. Krill founded NECWA in 2005 and currently directs this all-volunteer nonprofit. NECWA combines research activities with educational outreach and conservation. NECWA is the only organization that rescues and researches “misfit” marine animals, including ocean sunfish, torpedo rays, and triggerfish.
