Shoreline Beachcombers Walk with Tor Hansen

Shoreline Beachcombers Walk with Tor Hansen In-Person

Take a walk with Tor Hansen along a Cape Cod Seashore and find what beach combing can reveal regarding
inshore biological diversity. Explore tideline seaweeds and how they shape habitat for fish like
salt marsh minnow, cunner, and tautog that inhabit cove, tidal creek, sand flat and estuary.
Search tide pools for skate, dogfish, sea urchin and whelk, squid and sand lance. Examine the
role of shellfish and sea star, ecology of crab, anemone and skeleton shrimp, and their
importance in the overall food chain. Evaluate what creatures co-exist and sustain a halcyon
grandeur, to ascertain abundance or scarcity. Behold monarch butterfly and seaside goldenrod.
Follow sandpipers and herons that lead us better to understand adaptation and ingenuity in
seashore marine life forms, and the water-washed essence in a sand dollar.
