Join us for “Coastal Resilience on the Cape: How to Prepare Your Home, Assets, and Yourself for a Changing Climate.” with Extension’s Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Sea Grant Coastal Resilience Specialist, Shannon Hulst, as she guides you through the Massachusetts Homeowners Handbook to Prepare for Coast Hazards and discuss what it means to live on Cape Cod in our changing environment. Coastal resilience is key to making life and the environment better on Cape Cod, especially in floodplain areas. Learn about the challenges we face and how to prepare.

Shannon is a Certified Floodplain Manager with a master’s degree in coastal hazard management from the University of Rhode Island. She provides technical assistance on all things related to flooding, flood insurance, and floodplain regulations as well as coastal resilience to municipalities, residents, and businesses on Cape Cod. Her regional program work contributes to $600,000 in annual savings in flood insurance premiums for residents in 9 Cape Cod towns. Shannon has received two national awards for her work in regional floodplain management.
