Safety at Sea: Basics & Best Practices with Fishing Partnership In-Person
Join Fishing Partnership’s Marine Safety Instructors, Russell Kingman and Shannon Eldredge, for an hour of practical skills, survival stories and best practices for safety at sea. Russell and Shannon will demonstrate how to don a survival suit and make a proper Mayday call, discuss person overboard recovery procedures and basic principles of flooding control on board. They will also share fishermen’s survival stories and best practices for safety at sea for all mariners on vessels of any size.
Russell Kingman is the Safety Project Officer for Fishing Partnership Support Services. His credentials include USCG-certified Marine Safety Instructor, Wilderness First Responder, and First Aid/CPR Instructor Development. Russell was a commercial fisherman and clammer in Chatham, MA for 10 years and grew up sailing in Cape Cod Bay and up and down the East Coast.
Shannon Eldredge is the First Aid Program Coordinator for Fishing Partnership Support Services. Her credentials include MA-certified Community Health Worker, NR-EMT, Wilderness First Responder, and USCG-certified Marine Safety Instructor. Shannon owned & operated a commercial fishing business with her family in Chatham, MA and is on the board of the Women of Fishing Families and Chatham Harvesters Cooperative.
