Mark Fineman Memorial Chess Tournament In-Person
Students in Kindergarten through Grade 8 attending school or living in the towns of Brewster, Chatham, Eastham, Harwich, Orleans and Wellfleet are eligible to enter the Mark Hayden Fineman Memorial Chess Tournament. The tournament is free to enter.
Registration is 10:00 – 10:30 am and the first round of chess begins at 10:30 am. Students compete only within their grade sections.
All participants will receive prizes, top competitors in each school grade group (K-2, 3-5, 6-8) will receive scholarships from the Boston Foundation's Mark Hayden Fineman Chess Tournament Fund.
Section One Scholarships: 6th, 7th, 8th Grade - $500.00, First Place; $300.00 Second Place
Section Two Scholarships: 3rd, 4th, 5th Grade - $500.00, First Place; $300.00, Second Place
Section Three Scholarships: K, 1st, 2nd Grade - $200.00, First Place; $100.00, Second Place
