DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a short reading and discussion with Cynthia 
 Blakeley about her memoir\, The Innermost House (University of 
 Massachusetts Press)\, led by Cape Cod artist Pete Hocking. We’ll talk 
 about the craft of memoir\, growing up as a local on the Outer Cape in the 
 1960s and 70s\, family secrets\, and the ways that stories—both those we 
 remember and those we forget—shape our life. Book signing to 
 follow!\n\nBorn and raised in Wellfleet\, MA\, Cynthia Blakeley is a 
 first-generation college graduate who now lives in Atlanta\, GA\, where she 
 writes creative nonfiction\, edits scholarly works\, and teaches courses at 
 Emory University on memory and memoir\, dream theories\, literature\, and 
 research methods. She has been interviewed on public radio and in the 
 Boston Globe and Wall Street Journal\, and her creative nonfiction has 
 appeared in Cape Cod Voice\, HerStry\, and Dreamers Magazine.\n\n\nPete 
 Hocking is a painter\, teacher & writer on Cape Cod. His work is concerned 
 with nature\, place\, poetics\, and identity. He taught art for twenty-five 
 years at RISD and Goddard College while directing programs in public 
 service at RISD and Brown University. He's a founding board member of 
 Provincetown Commons and is represented by AMZehnder Gallery in Wellfleet.
