An Afternoon With Author Cynthia Blakeley In-Person
Please join us for a short reading and discussion with Cynthia Blakeley about her memoir, The Innermost House (University of Massachusetts Press), led by Cape Cod artist Pete Hocking. We’ll talk about the craft of memoir, growing up as a local on the Outer Cape in the 1960s and 70s, family secrets, and the ways that stories—both those we remember and those we forget—shape our life. Book signing to follow!
Born and raised in Wellfleet, MA, Cynthia Blakeley is a first-generation college graduate who now lives in Atlanta, GA, where she writes creative nonfiction, edits scholarly works, and teaches courses at Emory University on memory and memoir, dream theories, literature, and research methods. She has been interviewed on public radio and in the Boston Globe and Wall Street Journal, and her creative nonfiction has appeared in Cape Cod Voice, HerStry, and Dreamers Magazine.
Pete Hocking is a painter, teacher & writer on Cape Cod. His work is concerned with nature, place, poetics, and identity.
